About Jacksonville
Jacksonville is the largest city in land area in the contiguous United States. Its size results from a consolidation of the city and county government along with an expansion of city limits that included almost the entire county. Add to Jacksonville's civic pride it's operation of the largest urban park system in the United States and the largest deep water port in the south.
The St. Johns River divides the city while its tributary, The Trout River, lies entirely within in the city. By far, the military is the largest employer in Jacksonville. Home to three military facilities, Jacksonville is the third largest military presence in the country.
